Ricky Watkins 

 

Ricky Watkins played High School baseball at Alief Hastings High School and played summer baseball with the Columbia Angels in Houston, Texas.

 

At Hastings, he was a 3 time All-District Short Stop and received 2nd Team All Houston honors in 2001. In 2002, he was selected by the THSBCA to represent the State of Texas at the Junior Sunbelt Classic in McAllister, Oklahoma as a part of Team Texas. Prior to his senior year, Ricky’s parents moved and he made the switch to BF Terry High School where he was All District Short Stop and the Fort Bend Herald All-Area MVP. He led the State of Texas (4A) in stolen bases with 43 out of 45 attempts. Ricky played college baseball for The University of Texas - Permian Basin (Division 2) and in 2005 he was a member of the Laramie Colts (Mountain Collegiate Baseball League).

 

After his college playing career, Ricky followed his love for the game of baseball into coaching. Ricky's coaching career has led him to numerous titles and victories, but his biggest accomplishments are shown through the many players he has been able to teach the game of baseball to along the way. Some note-worthy acknowledgements: 2009 - 2013 Head Coach at Westbury Christian; 2010 TAPPS 4A Regional Finalist; 2011 TAPPS 4A State Semi-Finalist. Ricky was fortunate to coach 14 College Signees and 3 MLB Draft Picks during his time at Westbury Christian School. In 2013, he was selected by the Houston Area Baseball Coaches Association to be a Head Coach in the annual Junior All-Star game at The University of Houston. Ricky Was also on the Columbia Angels coaching staff from 2007-2014.
